Inspired by The Kelly Clarkson Show relocating to New York City, our latest edition of Updated Media Outlets and contacts are based in The Red Apple.

E! is an American basic cable channel which primarily focuses on pop culture, celebrity focused reality shows, and movies, owned by the NBCUniversal Television and Streaming division of NBCUniversal, a subsidiary of Comcast.

The Miami Herald is an American daily newspaper owned by The McClatchy Company and headquartered in Miami-Dade County, Florida. Founded in 1903, it is the fifth largest newspaper in Florida, serving Miami-Dade, Broward, and Monroe counties. It once circulated throughout all of Florida, Latin America and the Caribbean.

WGA Strike Pauses Some Daytime Talk Shows After Backlash

The ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes are causing television programs, expecting to season premiere this month, to take a side on the picket line. First it was The Drew Barrymore Show, who initially announced they would start production without striking writers.

It did not take long for the backlash to come, including Barrymore being dropped as the host of the upcoming National Book Foundation awards. While she initially defended her position while issuing an apology, she backtracked a couple days later and announced on her Instagram that she is pausing the show.

The pushback from the unemployed writers and their supporters proclaiming that hosts should not be on television while their writers are on strike has struck a deep nerve and now shows such as The Kelly Clarkson Show, The Talk, and The Jennifer Hudson Show are following suit to avoid the PR nightmare. All of these shows were expected to return on September 18th. Now their expected return air dates are TBA.

Not all daytime talk shows are delaying their production. Programs such as Tamron Hall and Sherri, have returned on-air with no backlash or picket lines outside their studios, why? Neither show employs WGA writers. Most talk show hosts fall under SAG-AFTRA but under the Network Television Code contract which allows them to still appear on television while those under the Television/Streaming/Theatrical contracts cannot.

When A Good Morning America (GMA) Feature Goes Not The Way You Wanted

What happens when you get featured on Good Morning America, and the segment that the producer's air is not what you imagined - and you don't want to show it to anyone. What do you do? Can you still use it? How did this happen? MorayaSeeger DeGeare shares her experience during this TuneUp.

The dream came to this New York based relationship therapist - Good Morning America came calling. Moraya Seeger DeGeare of BFF Therapy in Beacon, NY  (you've seen her before at Tin Shingle!) started a chalk conversation movement from her side hustle activist brand - To My Old Racist Earth - during the beginning of the protests in 2020. And she activated it again in 2021.

Last year, a friend saw what she was doing and reached out. That friend worked for Good Morning America and wanted to feature the movement that encouraged children's participation.

Moraya organized several families for the producers to interview, and a lot of footage was shot. However, what aired was much different than Moraya expected. So much so, that she didn't want to share the full feature with her own following after it aired nationwide.

In the name of helping others, Moraya agreed to come on Tin Shingle's next TuneUp to talk about the experience.

The Second Run Of 'Tamron Hall' Set To Air on OWN

Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) has licensed Tamron Hall - daytime talk show to begin on Monday, September 14. New episodes will run on OWN Monday-Friday at 8am and 1pm. Season One episodes of Tamron Hall will also air on OWN Monday-Friday at 9am and 2pm.

“Tamron is a dynamic host and an incomparable journalist. She delves into important conversations that matter to OWN viewers and we are so excited to have her as a part our daytime lineup,” said Tina Perry, president, OWN. “Tamron joined Oprah on her recent ‘2020 Vision’ tour, and we saw firsthand how engaging she is with audiences. Her show is a breakout daytime hit, and we welcome her to OWN with open arms.”

“Having Oprah’s engaged and passionate OWN viewers join us at our table is both meaningful and a privilege, especially during this moment in history where conversations matter more than ever before,” said Hall. “I can’t imagine a more perfect second home for my show and I am thrilled to join Oprah and the OWN family.”

'E! News', 'Pop Of The Morning', 'In The Room' Canceled

On Tuesday, E! announced the plan on cutting its staff amid the economic hardship brought on by the pandemic. E! has canceled its three New York-based entertainment news programs — E! News, Pop Of The Morning and In The Room. ‘E! News’ has been on air for 29 years. ‘Pop of the Morning’ and ‘In the Room,’ were only seven-months-old.

The news comes one year after E! announced an expansion of its entertainment news programming - moving from the West Coast as an evening news program to New York as a morning show.

E! News network shows "Daily Pop" and "Nightly Pop" will still be filmed and aired out of LA, and E!'s website and social media accounts will still be active.

Keeping Up With The Kardashians Ending After 14 Years And 20 Seasons on E!

Keeping Up With The Kardashians, the reality series on E! News is ending in 2021 after 14 years and 20 seasons.

The family broke the news in an Instagram post on September 8th.

“It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Keeping Up with the Kardashians. After what will be 14 years, 20 seasons, hundreds of episodes and several spin-off shows, we’ve decided as a family to end this very special journey.  We are beyond grateful to all of you who’ve watched us for all of these years – through the good times, the bad times, the happiness, the tears, and the many relationships and children. We’ll forever cherish the wonderful memories and countless people we’ve met along the way,” the family wrote.

“Thank you to the thousands of individuals and businesses that have been a part of this experience and most importantly, a very special thank you to Ryan Seacrest for believing in us, E! for being our partner, and our production team at Bunim/Murray who’ve spent countless hours filming our lives,” they added.

The announcement was signed by Kris Jenner, Kourtney Kardashian, Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Rob Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, Kylie Jenner and Scott Disick.

Its 19th season will begin airing on September 17 and will be followed by one final season, season 20, in 2021.
